Dear Diary,
I was super nervous before my presentation started! I regret sitting in front of the computer than standing at front when presenting. Anyway, I have delivered my points thoroughly. Even with the research project done, I still have drawbacks of whether or not to pursue animated documentary as the designated medium of the thesis. Afterall, being new to this genre is still a potential burden for me to do well.
Compare to Shraddha’s presentation, I found my research paid less attention to the content that I am going to work on, one reason is that they are not decided yet. Another reason is that, I view content is not as important as the visual presentation method of the animation. I want to allow the audience to decide what they are going to get from the animation.
Apart from the presentation, today’s class is about world building. For experimental animation, it is much more obscure to deliver the rules because they basically represent the theory and concept of the animation.
The reading of The 6 Emotional Arcs of Storytelling, Why You Should Use Them, and Which One is Best, tells that the 6 emotional arcs are the basic starters for stories. There are scientific research that show people are naturally being attracted by these 6 storytelling method. I think besides linear storytelling, the 6 emotional arcs can also help with non-linear stories because the turnout of these stories often states the creators’ vision towards the theme. Therefore, choosing one of the arcs to construct a story can help uphold the pace and message of it.
